Sculpture

Since a very early age I have loved to sculpt. I find it comes quite naturally to me. Just as a sketch artist can clearly see the shapes of their subject, i can see the exact dimensions needed to make the creature in my mind's eye.

I use a wide variety of materials and my sculpting has overlapped into other aspects of my creative work. My plaster cast masks are sculpted around frames of paper and wire. I've turned flat paintings into three dimensional oddities with the help of some cardboard and paper. I've combined my love of food with my talent and conjured up a marzipan dragon.

I work with sculpey (A man-made clay which comes in lovely bright colours), clay, papier mache and plaster. I would like to try my hand at netsuke and stone and I have a great desire to one day make an extremely large scale sculpture.

In the coming months my creative focus will be on this aspect of my creativity. I hope to start my next project by the new year. In the mean time invite you to explore my sculpture photo galleries.
